wow, Im shocked at the prices over there.

I paid (seems to be the going price) R140ea (less than $14) for my normal gouldians. The guy is selling blues for R500ea ($50).

Although I have noticed that your birds have brighter colouring than ours.

Wow! I need to move to South Africa! I just sold a white-breasted blue hen (head was either red or orange - parents produce both) for $200! Or rather, as a BUYER I need to move to South Africa. That little girl paid for two months of seed for me!

Evansville, IN USA

Health - Petsmart had the nicest, cleanest, happiest birds in the area. Harps, a local pet shop had equally nice and happy but the big aviary was kinda nasty (as if uncleaned with the 50 finches for a week or 2). Regardless, I bought my 2 zebs from here and they nested, mated, and laid an egg in 10 days. HAHA. Bridgets Bird Land I would say the finches looked cramped and unhappy, some with health issues. My recommendation is to NEVER go in the store, it smells so bad you are liable to catch an airborne disease yourself. Seriously, this store is a health hazard for humans.

Prices

PetSmart
Zebra - 16.95 each
Society - 21.95 each
Spice - 21.95 each
CB (unspecific) - 99.95 each
Gold Breast - 79.95 each
Green Singer - 99.95 each
Star (Red/Yellow) - 99.95 each
Silver Bills - 39.95 each

Harps Pet Shop
Zebra - 15.00 each (I got a pair from here)
Society - 15.00 each
Gouldians - 120 each for male, 150 each for female, 225 for a pair

Bridgets? Bird Land
Zebra - 15.00 each
Society - 15.00 each
(Do not go in this store, its nasty)

Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???

Before the Bird Flu, I could even get a lower prices(=1/2 now)
Anyway, as I said, we dont have famous mutaions here. I always wish for a pair of dominant silver zebra finches. :(

HoangQuan, Strawberries are going for as much as $125 each, and even more--if you can find them. It's because they aren't imported any more, because of bird flu.
