Looking for Fire Finches, Lavender Waxbills, in Colorado??

Post by CoMtnGal » Sat Dec 10, 2016 3:23 pm

Hi all. I am looking for mates for a few birds I've found locally. I'd love to find females: Red-billed Firefinch, Blue-billed Firefinch and Lavender Waxbill. My lavender does a two-note call, making me think he is, indeed, a male.

Seems hard to find folks in your area that breed, raise or keep finches!

i think your best bet is the finch farm since they have free shipping now. the only issue is they sell the lavender as unsexed bird.

Just be careful shipping over the holidays. Often, holiday schedules mean some flights are cancelled. Also, things get so busy at the airports that I worry that my birdies might be overlooked. In winter, you have to keep a close eye on the weather, both at the departing and arriving airports. Even when the weather is OK at those two places, a blizzard in another part of the country can affect schedules all the way down the line.

I wouldn't ship during holidays or cold spells for sure.

CoMtnGal

There's an ad on Craigslist for Lavender Waxbills, Gold-Breasted Waxbills, Orange-Cheeked Waxbills, and Cordon Bleus. I'm inquiring about the latter, though not sure how serious I am.

Just thought I'd let you know, in case you want to add to your Lavender collection or nab any of the others.

So is she flipping your birds, and selling them for more money?

I hate it when people do that!

How are your birdies doing???

Mine are great. I don't think she is flipping them.. She wanted them for her big office. I bet they are too messy? But she bought more than mine and made the cage smaller. too bad.

Yeah, the cage in the picture is TINY for the number of birds she's got crammed in there. She's asking $120 for the Cordon Bleu pair... A little too much for me, given the distance I'll have to drive to get them (and the fact that I really don't need any more birds.)

Well, I sold her the pair for $125, so she's not trying to flip for $$. I am going to sell my Pearl-heads for $100 if you're interested!
