Ft. Worth Bird Club Annual Show
There is a change of venue for the Ft. Worth Bird Club annual show, plus a date change. We normally have our show the first Saturday in October, but we lost our location this year and had to move our show date in order to get another venue. Next year, we will be returning to our normal first Saturday in October show date.
We expect to have a large turnout for the Finch and Softbill division, so if you are in the area, be sure to come join us (we had 111 entries last year). We put on a great spread for lunch, and there will be an auction after lunch. No sale birds at this show, though there may be some in the auction.

Re: Ft. Worth Bird Club Annual Show
I just noticed on the calendar that when I added this event, I listed the location as 1600 Benbrook Highway, when the correct address is 3600 Benbrook Highway. Sorry it this messes up anyone.
If you are in the N. Texas area, please stop by our show. I will be there, but I will be the show secretary for the Finch division, so I won't have any time to visit. But there will be others from the Fort Worth Bird Club, so come visit.

Re: Ft. Worth Bird Club Annual Show
Our show was a big success! We had 125 entries in the Finch division, which means that every bird that placed on the Top Ten bench got at least one point, from 1 point for 10th place to 10 points for 1st place. I've forgotten how many entries there were total in the show, but it was over 400--canaries, parrots, lovebirds, cockatiels, and budgies, besides finches. Armando Lee was the judge of the Finch division, so if you see that he is ever judging a show near you, be sure to go watch. He is so good about explaining what he is looking for, why one bird placed over another, etc. Our club puts on lunch, the best barbecue brisket you will ever have, plus the members bring sides and desserts--lots of food!
I just had time for a couple of quick photos of the Top Ten bench, as I had to get busy filling out the Judge's report for NFSS. I didn't even get a photo of my little Senegal Fire finch that won the Judge's Special award. I think he would have made Top Ten, the judge said he was really outstanding, but he had one feather sticking straight up in the air, so he could not use him on the bench. He looked fine when I put him in the show cage Friday night, but when I set the cages out in the gallery area at the show, I saw that he had this one feather out of place. Nothing to be done at that point, I sprayed him with water hoping he would groom it back, but that didn't happen. This morning, he looks fine again. And that BCCB wearing the 2nd place red ribbon is my entry. Sorry for the poor photos, I'm not a good photographer.
Cindy, your friend Josh won the Best Novice award with his Zebra pairs, that is his entry sitting on the shelf above the Top Ten bench. And a chocolate self Society not only won the Finch division, it went on to win Best in Show, out of 400+ entries!!

Yes, we missed you this year, Deborah. Maybe your latest GS hatchlings will be show birds for 2014?

Congratulations on your wins, Sally. Your show sounds like so much fun! We are working hard here to create a fun show in our area, too. Wish us luck - it's this Saturday - and we have almost twice the vendors we had last year and many, many more people have said they are entering the show. Yay!!

Re: Ft. Worth Bird Club Annual Show
Good luck with the show, Martie! It is a lot of hard work, but so worth it. We have increased our entries every year, which is a good sign.
Ginene, Societies are big in this area, one of our club members specializes in show quality Societies. Our show breakdown for entries was 45 Zebras, 43 Societies, and 37 all other species! And Societies took 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th in the division!
