Re: New extension
I've got the water feature in now...but had to remove the tub willow as the birds would have denuded it in hours.I shall have to find some large leaf plants to put in there...and a couple of climbers up the wire outside.

While working on this I heard a 'plop' and spotted a chick bicheno that had jumped from a nest...getting dark I brought it inside for the night.Popped him back in this morning, but the little devil's jumped out three more times today.I saw the adults feeding this lone chick so why he's jumping Lord knows.I'm afraid he will kill himself at this rate...it's a six foot drop each time.

Ta....Will be when it's got some greenery growing round it.lovemyfinch wrote:Beautiful fountain Pooh
Little bicheno on the floor again...I've fixed a nest box 2 feet off the floor under the original box and removed the top so the adults can see the chick...hope they feed it or it's not going to make it...Getting dark now so tomorrow morning will tell.I doubt the adults will sit in the new box so luckily it's not forecast too cold tonight.

Re: New extension
Love the fountain, with some greenery it will be a real bird paradise.
Hope your little owl is well in the morning. I know what you mean about being killed in the jump. I have lost several goldbreast early fledgers like that
I know what you mean about being sore after the winter. I did a little gardening and must have used muscles I haven't used since last spring...
I had a lot of volunteer lettuce, kale, parsley. etc that sprouted like crazy as soon as the weathered warmed. Not all of it totally died out so the birds are enjoying their homegrowns again

Once a few start, as they have, the others will quickly follow. Looks very appealing!
