We live in a gated community and only my very close friends are allowed to visit my home and aviary.

Wow Misty, what a lot of changes but it sounds like you're really pumped about it!
I can't wait for the pictures!
Strange that people steal birds yet it seems many pet stores can hardly GIVE them away. Even the large birds are up for adoption all the time after being given to shelters by their owners -- Still, people are nuts and it's better to be cautious for sure.

Re: The Chirp Shire and the many changes
Misty, I am sure your goulds will adjust to the outdoor humidity. Being on the coast here with extreme humidity has been my biggest battle with the australian grasskeets... yet with the gouldians I have yet experienced a problem. Last year I never once ran the a/c and just had fans that circulated the air throughout the covered aviaries and through the bird house. It would reach 95% at the extreme but the birds faired well. They would become less active in the heat of the day but that seemed only natural. They would resume activety once the temp dropped in the evening.
Hope all works well for you. I too would rather cage breed when it comes to the species of gouldians. I let them enjoy the flights or aviaries when not breeding. I don't have overly agressive birds, just an occaissional one and I either set them up to breed, sell them, or simply isolate the troublemaker
For my situation,I find the open aviaries are much better suited for the waxbills and parrot finches.
