PVC wire mesh, question about size for finch flight

Post by bohnnco » Fri Jan 25, 2008 7:54 pm

Hi folks,

I read a reference to cesheperd in another thread. They happen to be right here in Houston where I live. So, I am going with their product.

Here is the PDF showing the options.

I think I want the 1" x .5" rather than the .5" x .5". To me, that seems small enough but not so small it reduces visibility of the birds. Any thoughts or concerns?

Thanks,
Brett

If I built an aviary, the l" x .5" is what I would go with. The smaller mesh is a lot more expensive, I think. Unless you have the tiniest of waxbills, you won't have a problem. Most of my breeding cages are galvanized mesh, 1" x .5". There is a website that has some tips about building aviaries--they may be larger than what you want, but you may get some ideas. It is www.backyardaviary.com.

I didn't download the CEShepherd stuff, I have slow dialup and it was going to take too long, but I think they also sell all the parts you need to build a cage. If not, PM me and I will give you the website of a company that does sell parts.
