My new bird home has arrived!

Post by Robbie » Mon Jul 18, 2011 1:44 pm

Hi all, My new bird home has arrived! I have spent the afternoon assembling, positioning and started to decorate with branches and driftwood.
I have decided that i want to get a pair of Gouldians as my first avian companions :)

I have 1 question though. The 4 feeders are exposed, should I get a covered water dispenser and if so could anyone recommend one suitable for Gouldians?

Thanks for the pic of the cage. I don't have gouldians, but have many other finches. I would use the cups for the water and paper plates or stainless steel dishes (I bought cat ones at Petsmart) for food, so they are easy to change out and clean. I also would change out the perches for pedi perches and some natural branches, also can be bought online or at PetSmart type stores. I love putting together new cage set ups. Have fun. :D

Any of the upright plastic water dispensers will do...

I use water tubes for mine....Then they don't seem to foul up the water as easily...

Hey Robbie, nice cage! Looks like lots of room for a pair of gouldians. If you're looking for a "covered" waterer, I think PetSmart sells ceramic covered waterers made by Superpet, like what they use in their birds cages. (I don't know that you have PetSmart where you are...?) I don't know that the birds are able to bath very well in them, and I think they are too heavy to suspend from the sides of a cage. Also, they're a little awkward to clean out/refill everyday.

Heres a link for them:
