Need more breeding cages with solid dividers
I live in Central Jersey. Anyone know where I can buy cages without sending for them. Thought I'd get them this week. Looking for 24 long, solid divider. Any bird shops anyone know of?

Hey, I'm in central jersey as well. There are a few places that come to mind that could be of use to you!
I just discovered a pet store called "Animal Crackers" in Clark, NJ today. Its a small shop, but they have a great selection of bird-related stuff. They have some harder to get brands, including Abba seed. As far as cages go, they seem to have a pretty good selection. I'd give them a call if they're in your area! Their number is (732)-882-1882.
I also just checked out Abba Seed's website, and they are based in Hillside, NJ. In addition to seed, they sell a variety of bird supplies. They've got some pretty interesting breeder and flight cages, too! I'd check their website out (http://www.abbaseed.com), I'm sure they'd allow you to pick up a cage locally!
Hope that helps.

Lyn...how far are you from Paterson? I used to live in west central NJ...A friend lives near Paterson, she loves this store.
They have finches (click on Our Birds)....they may be able to order in your cages for you.

Talk about 6 degrees of separation. I knew the fathers son, Doug. He had a second store, the same name. He sold it and moved and now it's called the bird store. Talk about a small world!! Lyn PS. Used to live in Paramus so drove everywhere to get anything.

Re: Need more breeding cages with solid dividers
I lived in the Princeton area and drove to New Brunswick to a place called Aplples Aviary fro supplies and food. Another place was on the outskirts of Langhorne, Pa called Schultz's Bird Farm...they built a huge two story building they had birds, lots of finches and hookbills, food, supplies. The owner use to let me come over and cut honeysuckle vines for nesting material for my lovebirds. She taught me how to make my own nutritional handfeeding formula...long before the commercial ones were available...the place was fantastic.
Sadly the couple divorced and the business dissolved. It was the go-to-place for birds and supplies, advice back in the 80's.

Small world!! Mrs Schultz was the best, if you had a question or issue with handfeeding...she would talk you through it step by step!!! I loved the Swiss chalet look to their bird building! Do you remember when it was on the bottom floor of their home?

That sounds like such an awesome place. I wasn't even born yet, and I still feel like I'm missing out

Cindy,
I don't remember that. That may be good for me. Maybe a little younger than you, which, after, fighting with my 28 yr old, sounds good about now.
Do you remember the Blue Hyacinth (forgot his name). I used to always ask....who would spend money on such an expensive bird. Her answer was always "people who don't know what to spend their money on". That was a $10,000 bird! You're bring up some great memories.
I called the Canary Bird Farm. They are in Englishtown. They are very cheap so I ordered cages and basically paid 2 for the price of 1. I wouldn't feed my birds their food, but when it comes to things needed, that's the place. I could reminice for hours. Thanks for the memories. Lyn

gonna have to send you the fries overnight. One stand has the fries. The flea market is larger than ever. You should see it.
