I have a question.
Last week, we moved my two 6 month old tame zebra males, 1 society, and 1 cordon bleu into a new aviary that I made out of a bay-window in my bedroom. It is 6 feet high x 6 feet long by 18 inches deep. The doors are open all day, so they can fly free around my bedroom as much as they want. So they basically have my whole bedroom as thier "aviary" LOL
I am now in the process of handfeeding 5 more zebras. As soon as I can sex them, I will be selling all the females (so only to have male zebras).
Well, today I placed two of my zebra babies (who just fledged) in the aviary so they could watch the older ones. I supervised them the whole time. Within minutes, my two "established" male zebras attacked the babies by screeching, chasing, and plucking out their feathers!!!
AUGH!! They didn't react like this when I brought in the society or the CB.
What the heck??
Is it possible for them to live together peacefully?
How should I go about introducing??
I am also wondering if it could be because the older zebras were handfed are extremely jealous. Even though they weaned 4 months ago, they keep flying to my hands and opening thier mouths while I feed the little ones (trying to get me to feed them!!). I am amazed that they still remember!!
