Converted closet Flight cage- The Butterfly Garden

Post by Tolly_Paikea » Tue Nov 15, 2011 4:31 pm

I just finished converting about half my closet into a flight cage, which I call the Butterfly Garden

I still have to get a few more wall stickers(plant ones) and add something for them to play with and then it's done!

I moved Tolly and Paikea in there with their nest at night(last Friday) while they were still in it(with my hand covering the opening) so that when they came out the next morning they know their nest is the safe-place

they've adapted well, Pai was the first to be completely comfortable, such a adaptable little bird!

I hardly see Tolly as he does most of the incubating.

I'm rather liking it, and it was built cheaply and besides the roll of wire mesh I had everything I needed I spent probably around $20 total on this

I'm going to have to figure out a new door system though because this one takes to many steps for my liking

I took some Photo's of Pai

and a photo of Tolly peaking out of the nest, the only way I can get him to peak out is to close the closet door and peak through the crack to see him, and them blow through the crack. when they're both in there it's hysterical! they stretch their necks looking for the source f the sound, it's sooo funny! I have no idea how I found out this works, but I'm glad I did! hehehee they're just so darn cute!

Nice!! =D> =D> =D>

Maybe you can also put in a few natural branches and some fake ivy trailing from the top? I bet they would like that... :-)
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.
