Hubby and I built an aviary in an extra, unremodeled bedroom using screen doors, it is 6Lx7Hx3W. We were thinking about buying a 6x9 piece of linoleum and just making it into a bird room. Does anyone have suggestion? I guess I just want to make sure I am not forgetting anything.
I cant start until the Gouldian babies fledge so I have some time before we start. I have just been picking up supplies like outlet covers and the such.
Thanks for you help.

Oh pics are a MUST!!! love the sounds of this!!! and like you am a pic person....
so how many lil darlings will get to live in the new place? Are they all gouldians?
I find mine love having the larger space. Their flying actually is improved from when I first bought them. they now sweep the enclosure like no bodies business! lol
not sure what to say aboug limolium but i do know tile holds up well! seems to me a bird room of tile would do wonders, like a tiled bath room ya know. could spray it down easily! just add a drain of some kind or do what we did, have a dirt bottom with live plants!

Ahhh - you got Gouldie babies already? Awesome - I didn't know - tell me more!! I'll hop over to 'the other forum' and hopefully see your post there.
For your finch room - I'd suggest a double door to make sure a finch doesn't escape, and I guess the window(s) should be covered maybe with plastic sheeting so you still get the light through and can see through but so the finches don't hurt themselves flying into glass. Oh and heater vent covers of some type again to let the heat through but so seeds and poop don't go down. I'm sure there tonnes of other suggestions too.

yes the plastic is good, I us eit in my bird room on the windows year round. The kind ya tape on then use hair dryer to shrink this way ya really cant tell its there and birds literally bounce off.
I still havent found a vent cover so if someone knows of something PLEASE Id lov eto hear that,
And I would go Tile as well. After our dogs pass we will be converting a large 16 x 40 spare masterbedroom into the bird room and I intent to have 1/2 the room a free flight with tile and a drain going someplace lol that should be interesting, lol still in the hmm how to do that stage, lol
Id set it up with great lighting too, water source as close as possible etc
