housing plans?

Post by limeslide » Sat Apr 14, 2012 2:23 am

Getting inspiration from william, I've gotten the idea of ditching the flights (maybe selling them, keeping them as extras in case of emergencies, etc.) and building something like william's, though somewhat larger in length to accommodate the various species I own. I do know that Zebra Finches in general are viscous beings and should be kept in pairs alone from any other possible victim to their annoying tendencies, and the Canaries are solitary animals and should also be kept alone, so that makes two divisions in plan already. That leaves Quincy the society (whom I hope to get a partner or two soon! :) ). He is currently with Apollo the Canary and they get along fine since they both have very calm dispositions, but if they are both perching on the same perch and Quincy is higher on the perch, Apollo will
"challenge" him and stand up straight over Quincy to move him over, Quincy usually moves over and does not pick fights with Apollo. This is not often behaviour, and both sleep next (not cuddling, but near each other) to each other most of the time and both still sing, quite loudly too! They do not fight for food, so could I have the flight with two sections, the Zebras, then the Canary and the Society(ies), or do all three have to be strictly separated?
What about if I get a female for Quincy, will Apollo try to fight Quincy for the other female?

Thank you for reading.

Apollo will not be interested in the female society, bit think it would be better if each species had it's own cage.
