Double wiring?

Post by wearjo » Sat Apr 28, 2012 10:00 am

Hi, I've been considering building a double door flight in the backyard and I was wondering, apart from the incredibly small wire space, and the metre high barrier, do I need to double wire? I don't want to lose any birds due to stupidity :(

I'll let Kenny, Dan, and Wildbill from Australia answer this, as they are all Australians and can help you better with protecting yourself from Australian wildlife. I would rat/snake-proof the aviary (if that is possible) and think of including a trap door or safety door to prevent birds from accidentally flying out when you enter and exit your aviary. Good luck and welcome! :)
God is my redeemer and it is through Him I have found eternal happiness. I am grateful, I am blessed, and I am truly loved. I wish all this and more for all members of our finch forum family. May you all be blessed and highly favored. <3

That's what I meant by double door, sorry I should've elaborated a bit. And I'm pretty sure that to rat and snake proof an aviary you have a boundary of 1 metre high all the way around and no gap that's 1 cm2 in the mesh? Oh and the concrete for the floor so no vermin can dig under :)
