New Water Feature

Post by TheGrassfinch » Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:07 am

The finches seem to enjoy the new water feature. I seem to invariable change the layout and the way it operates yearly.

Cool!

How does it work? do you have it on a reticulation system or does it come on with timer and empty into a holding “pond”. Do you have to add anything to the water to keep it fresh.

I love it! I too would be interested in how and how often you have to clean it.

It is a reticulation system with the reservoir underneath the rock. I can slide out the reservoir from the back. I clean it one a week purely to be in the aviary. I add about 10-15 granules of my pool chlorine to prevent any bacteria or algae.

I need to clean it just to avoid seed buildup in the filter. The finches tend to put seed and the wild grass into the water.
