Bill at fabulousfinch.com sells the Virkon-S. I love this product for disinfecting.

I also just use hot water and regular dish detergent. For things with tougher to clean areas such as tube waterers, I run them through the hottest cycle on the dishwasher.
Really, if you tried to make their environment totally sterile, you'd have to disinfect the bars, the floor, change the paper a zillion times per day, etc. The only time I would really go all out with disinfecting is if a physically ill bird had used the dishes previously. I know a lot of sources say to use bleach but it makes me nervous to think such a potent chemical could be left in trace amounts for the birds to ingest or inhale.
