I have been a photographer for many years and the simple answer is to paint it white. White will reflect the light the best and will help the birds to stand out against the back of the aviary. I would also add lamp with a full spectrum bulb on top of it to give it some artificial illumination. Finches need daylight to process vitamins just like we do, and a full spectrum bulb will help to provide the required light to help accomplish this.
