just a good question im putting plants in my aviary and i dont want the birds to rip them apart .
i want them to stay bushy and wich are the best climbers to use. i want the plants to stay complete so wich are the best that they wont touch as much .
new to the aviary thing cant wait just painted the inside made it a lot brighter its lookin good all excited .
and have come to the conclusion of having two pairs stars
and two pairs painted.
rather than a mixed colony.

the birds will eat almost anything green that you place in the aviary. a couple of the more hardy plants I have found are bottlebrush and grevillea, you just have to keep the trimmed to size. there is a very good list of plants in the finch info centre. I have different types of grasses planted in my aviary which the birds rip apart for nesting materials and when in seed they eat them, also have a couple of ferns. herbs I keep in pots and rotate through the aviary so that each plant survives.

Yes, they will eat on everything. That is why you have to be careful what you put in there. I have two large silk trees , a few bonsia trees, ferns and lots of pots of herbs. They are constantly chewing on the branches and leaves. But it is great to recycle your bath and drinking water straight into the live plants. :D
