I cut cardboard templates for the ends, then we cut them out of hardware cloth as well, and laced it all together with wire. Cut doorways in either end only, if we decide we really need middle access, will cut one more door.
Put down a sheet of clear, hard plastic ("Banister Guard") to line the bottom, then puppy pads on top of that (had them left over from other pets). Since I decided I didn't like the bright blue of the puppy pad showing out the bottom, I then added brown packaging paper under the plastic, so I see brown, not blue, at the bottom.
Shoved/wired in some paper birch branches (baked dry in the oven first), and shoved the leaves of a whole lot of silk plants through the wire. Branches in the bottom are just laying there, so are easily moved when it's time to roll up the puppy pad. Food tray is a glass corn-on-the-cob dish. Cut slots in wire for tube waterers. Right now fluorescent grow light is resting on top, hope to make a bracket for it soon.
