Sometimes you get lucky, now I need reasons not to fill them

Post by cleocutie » Wed Mar 27, 2013 7:33 pm

I recently got 7 of the 18"x 18"x 30" cages for $39.00. Admittedly, it was due to a mistake on the part of the company I ordered from (they had a set of 6 listed at the price for one.). But since I was feeling not very generous towards them after the cages had been backordered 4 times and almost 6 months (I had to really rearrange everyone here because the canary babies I was going to put in the one grew up and were arguing with their father in the meantime. So a bunch of my finches had to be put together in a really too small cage to open a cage for the babies), when I got the one I wrote to them to complain about the fact the listing said set of 6 and about how long it took to get it and they sent another set of 6. I really just expected a form note saying they were sorry, but thought I would write anyway so they would fix the listing. At that point, they were still listed at that price for the 6, but by the time I had gotten the batch of 6 they had fixed it.

Of course, that now means I have 6 cages sitting in a box that I do not have anyone to put in them. Maybe I do need to separate my Zebras by color after all, that would use up at least a couple of them. If I can find some gouldians anywhere close to me, my resolve to not buy any more finches might just go out the window.

You could always join them together into larger cages.
Or one giant birdy playpen!
It's nice when karma works in your favor, isn't it?

If you don't actually need all of them, you could sell some of them. Post them on Craigslist for like $25 apiece- a good deal for someone looking for one, and a great deal for you, since you could make more than you paid for them originally!

I might just list them for sale. That way, next time someone relatively close to me has birds for sale I can get some to fill the rest without feeling guilty. For some reason I know of 3 canary breeders in town, but no one other than the pet stores who has anything else closer than Indy which is two hours away. Which, since I want some gouldians, is a bit of a problem.

I wouldn't sell or fill all of them. You never know when you might need an extra one!
