28"x28" is a nice size cage for your birds. If you decide to get a 2nd that you are going to attach, I would go for spice finches rather than zebras. Zebras are bullies...especially when they are nesting. I wish I would have known this before I purchased 3 pairs of them. You may consider using the 2nd cage separately for a different species all together. There are so many to choose from. Bets of luck...
Ginene,
I am still debating on the next species I want to raise so I've been doing some research. It will be either the spice or gouldians. But it won't be anytime soon, I'm still new and just getting the hang of it all. I was going to keep the zebras until I've read all of the comments about them! I can't stand bullies! Hehe.

So I am confused, did you exchange your original cage for a different one? It looks like the same cage, but it's hard to tell, can you post a pic of the new one? Is it fancy like the first one? or did you keep the first one... I am confused
Nana,
I canceled the cage from the original post (from Wayfair.com) because of the bar spacing. I decided to pick up a cage from Petco that is bigger and has bar spacing suitable for finches. The design is very similar, stand is different and it's bigger so it worked out and my finches love it! I will take pictures soon when I get home! I am still observing for any signs of stress because I have 4 society finches in the enclosure but they seem happy, chirping and singing all day. Very obedient birds!

You could always make your own cage? I don't know if you saw it, but today I posted about the small indoor aviary I built for my finches. My birds seem to love the space and they have lots of room to fly back and forth.

Good luck with finches! I had zebra finches a long time ago and I loved them. They are so active and their calls are really entertaining.
