He does Ancestry, but also much more independently, he has some of both his father's line and my father's back nearly 2000 years, really, my oldest, documented in writing ancestor he has an unbroken line to is 140 A.D., and his almost the same, about 64-65 generations back. But other lines hit dead ends. He knows some of his ancestors left Newtown, CT, (where I grew up, and yes, the Newtown of Sandy Hook School) which they helped found, to Arlington about 50 years later. Actual records, probates, wills, land sales, help track down wives and children and inlaws and parents and siblings and such, and also tell a lot about their status and accomplishments in life.Nanajennie wrote:No, that is almost three hours from me, is he on Ancestry.com? j I did mine last year and got some great information and went back to the early 1700'sHey, are you in/near Arlington? Hubby's family long ago went to Arlington, (like 1750's) and he would love to get a look at the old records to fill in family history and genealogy.

Boston is out of reach for me. Heck, more days than not, my mailbox across the road from the end of my driveway is out of reach for me. I don't really go anywhere without someone else, anymore. And then, there's the kids, also. Hubby and I can take the train into the City, train station's within reasonable driving distance for him, but the long drive to Boston is not the best thing for him to do, he got his brain a little broken in that car accident that broke me all up and stuck me inside my little house. (Sorry, feeling a bit sorry for myself today.) But if Ginene was heading that way, she could easily pass right by me. So would Lisa, she lives between me and Ginene. But someday, maybe, somehow...I am not sure if I could do a SI NYC day trip, so I most likely would be wanting to meet at a half way mark. Is it possible for you to make a Boston trip? Someday I will be coming to NYC area for a visit, I love that city! But not in the near future. Maybe if Ginene and I ever do make it to Boston, you could send birds with her to give me LOL I was thinking of looking into bird shows in the Boston area and planning the trip around it!
WE MUST MAKE THIS HAPPEN! THERE HAS TO BE A WAY

Random unrelated thought...
I see you list your orange-cheeked Waxbills as "Not named yet".
WAXbills.....hmmm....
Paraffin and Lanolin?
Candle and Floor? Carnauba? Car? Ear? (ewwww!)
okay. going to bed now. obviously I need sleep.

I am so here and available for you guys!!! My hubby is a peach, so if I have to take a detour to Ruth to get birds to Jennie, I don't see it being an issue! A trip to Boston will not take much convincing...as Big Joe and I have been itching to go there. However, if Ruth is on the way to Jennie, I can Just do a straight shot to Vermont and enjoy a weekend there with Big/Lil Joe's

Nerien You are entitled to have a day like that! I am so sorry to hear this! I knew you were disabled, but I didn't know why. Again, my heart goes out to you and your hubby.
You are an amazing funny woman, and for all you have been through, your attitude is awesome! xoxoxoxo
Someday when I make it up to NYC I would love to meet you and your birds and most likely leave with a few birds, with or without your permission
@Ginene Wow, have you ever been to VT? it's beautiful! I was thinking about checking into up and coming bird shows (I have never been to one) and trying to plan the Boston trip that way! birds for lil Joe and Red Sox or something for Big Joe!

You have to give me time to breed & raise them for you, first! You can't have anybody that I have right now, and my daughter would back me on that. Son would help you pack them in the car himself. (Tho he does like the parrotlets, tho he says only because those we could breed and sell for actually significant amounts of money. He's 15. I think that says it all.)Nanajennie wrote: Someday when I make it up to NYC I would love to meet you and your birds and most likely leave with a few birds, with or without your permission![]()

When I am able to come down there, trust me it will be well planned and announced in plenty of time. I don't have a lot of spare change to my name so I have to plan trips like this well in advanced.

That is so amazing! My uncle did it the old fashioned way too and actually flew to Norway (he is a finch and his wings were so tiredHe does Ancestry, but also much more independently, he has some of both his father's line and my father's back nearly 2000 years, really, my oldest, documented in writing ancestor he has an unbroken line to is 140 A.D., and his almost the same, about 64-65 generations back

Your names are great! I like Paraffin and Lanolin, but I went over to the cage and called them that but the names didn't really roll off my tongue easily. Hi paraffin, Hi lanolin.. LOL
I do need to name them though. how about Yankee and Doodle, it kinda fits their personality. chirpy and zippy, plus they already have feathers in their caps

Well, you could call them Ffin and Lin for short. So, Carwax and Earwax are a no go?Your names are great! I like Paraffin and Lanolin, but I went over to the cage and called them that but the names didn't really roll off my tongue easily. Hi paraffin, Hi lanolin.. LOL

I like Yankee and Doodle. Much better. If I ever get my OCWB's, I'll name them after waxes. Maybe Candle and Sealing. Or Furniture and Shoe. But I guess those are more polishes than waxes. Okay, so maybe I have brain damage, too. Certainly not quite normal, am I .... oh wait, that's been lifelong, got it from my father.

Yeah, we got smashed by another driver who lost control. Hubby got head injury and some physical injuries, I got all kinds of physical injuries, and then complications from those, daughter luckily got only a broken arm which healed nicely, because she's just a kid (anyone with kids or grandkids you drive USE THE PROPER CHILD/BOOSTER SEATS!!! Not just within the law requirements, follow child safety group recommendations and then some, if not for the very expensive seat I had bought to make sure it fit her right, as she is very slender and petite, she would have been killed. It's worth the hassle.)Nanajennie wrote: Nerien You are entitled to have a day like that! I am so sorry to hear this! I knew you were disabled, but I didn't know why. So now I have been bringing the outside world inside by overindulging in pets, as you can see from my list. Beats watching TV all day, 500,000 channels and nothing but reruns. And playing on the internet, where I can pretend to make plans that I can no longer actually do. Went to medical appointments #3 and #4 since Monday today. Talked with lawyer. Talked with new doctor who called me at home. Booked an appt at Yale that I'm not sure is worth going to, considering the hassle of getting there.
Naming birds silly things like Earwax, planning for species I probably won't ever get, planning breedings I just don't have room to do, is much more fun. Thanks for putting up with me.

EyesofFreedom Thanks Will! I have been dying to get it disinfected, and today was the first day that 1) the weather was decent enough to do it outside 2) I didn't have work or other commitments.
