I finally got to start working on this flight cage! I got all the pieces cut and just finished framing it. It's 60x15x24. I was quite excited to realize that if I hunch down a little, I can fit inside it. Now I just need to add the floor, finish framing the doors, add the cage wire, and work out the divider panel details.

Just a couple of pictures of one of my nearly completed indoor flight cages. No wooden frame just melamine faced board (washable) screwed together.Just move birds along and insert partition...remove front and change floor covering section by section (In my case I use shredded hemp bedding...it doesn't blow about and is very absorbent) No birds in there while I'm cleaning or rearranging perches.A six inch melamine strip at the front keeps the bedding from blowing around the room.Access doors in the cage ends for when birds need to be caught. The extra cut out in the end is for a bath unit to clip on.This one is 8 feetx2x2
A central divider provides for two 4 foot breeding cages.

And here's another pair of 4 foot cages with cage fronts...the doors are big enough to facilitate cleaning without the use of trays.I remove most of the bedding then finish the corners with a vacuum.
The small clip on removable doors in the fronts are for baths or external nestboxes.

Poohbear, I love those dividers! I altered the concept a little and have my divider being put in from the top though. Thanks for the pictures!

So I got the call to get my second female zebbie today so I rushed to finish half the flight just enough to get them into half of it and out of my little travel cage. This is what it looks like currently.

The door currently has window screen on it, but when finished, it will be plexi glass. The wire is 1/2 inch hardware cloth from tsc. I plan to cover it in an epoxy paint and the wood frame will be stained a dark cherry to match the decor, but that won't happen til the weekend and I hated leaving the girls in the tiny cage.

I made up temp perches as I went so yes, there are a couple bungee cords in there and I used the perches from the travel cage at odd angles to keep them in place.

At least they seem to like the bungee cords, but looking at them in even half the cage makes it look like it's going to be a really awesome project once complete. It's definitely a much better size than my other cages.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make it better? I'll be building custom perches for it to fit the space as I'm looking for a combination of white and natural wood.

Thanks!
