Bill start a new post asking about your paint concerns, be much easier to find it each time and may get more of a response. if you are that worried about the paint why dont you strip the cage back to bare metal and repaint it using a water based acrylic
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Where you from, If your keeping finches in the cage since they don't chew on the bars I dont realy don't think its a problem, the problem comes when you have hookbills because they chew on every thing they peel the paint of the metal then they can get lead poison

I'm in the Dallas Texas area. It's just a concern with all the China imports using lead in their paint. I may be over reacting.

I just want to have a safe environment for them. That's why I asked.

I don't plan on having any hookbills (had those a long time ago). Just a nice friendly group of finches I can sit and watch. Listen to their songs and de-compress from the days turmoil at work.

Thanks for the response. I feel better about my cages now.

There has been concern on some of the hookbill forums about lead in the paint from China, especially with all the toys that were found to have excessive levels. If you are going to have only finches, I wouldn't worry about it a bit, they don't chew on the cages at all.
