The undersides of the grates are the worst in cages with finches!
Budgies and grasskeets are easier to clean up after!!!

I use the Method brand all-purpose natural cleaner from Target. It's supposed to be non-toxic and works well for almost everything.

Re: Cleaning f040 bottom grate...
Yes, I do. I remove food and water dishes and obviously take care not to spray it on the birds (they usually fly to the opposite end the cage where I'm not working). I do spray and clean the solid walls of my enclosure and their perches. I also use a perch scrubber to scrape away the droppings on the bottom grate, and then I wipe the grate with paper towels wetted with Method. When I can remove the grate, i spray it and let the Method sit for a while. Bird poo comes off with ease! No dead birdies yet...so I guess it is non-toxic just like they advertise.chirpy wrote: Grant I LOVE METHOD!

Is the Method cleaner a disinfectant?
Also Clorox does make a bleach alternative made with Hydrogen Peroxide. They also make hydrogen peroxide wipes. Target carries in the bleach section a hydrogen peroxide alternative to bleach.

cindy I actually use the hydro non bleach Clorox for my bathroom I thought its better since my daughter is potty training and safer for her. I don't like bleach smell so I'm very happy with it! Not sure about the method being disinfectant.. Ill have to see!

Re: Cleaning f040 bottom grate...
I have used the hydrogen peroxide safe bleach in the laundry and will switch to using it to clean cages during the week with. To do a complete cage cleaning every 3 months, I remove everything and give a good scrub outside with regular bleach and water and sun dry.
Scented perfume cleaners, some I can not use in the house.
I ran the white vinegar and the hydrogen peroxide by our vet, she said it is fine. I prefer the Hydrogen peroxide to the white vinegar since the Wvinegar can smell, my daughter can tell when I have used it.

It has a sunflower on it, in the bleach section. Our Publix grocery store has one also under the Greenwise label. Don't think the Clorox one is scented, will look when I go back to the store!
