I use two or three layers if regular newspaper on top of the grate, and then a layer of white paper towels which is absorbant on top of newspaper. I change the paper towels everyday, and the newspapers once or twice a week.
I have tried different things, but it just ends up all over the floor.

For my aviary I use concrete sand. For my indoor flight I use woodfiber. And for my cages I use white shellsand with anice in it, it smells good and is easy to clean. I don't know if it's available in Canada though. Otherwise I would just use some kind of sand for cages because you can clean it easily with water.

If you want I could place a picture of the shellsand.

I also find the Eco bedding catches some of the food when they discard the husks. (Some) haha

Debbie introduced me to a product called Oil-Dri that you can pick up at Wal-Mart and I think also Sam's Club. I get the 20lb bags at my local Wal-Mart for less than $5 and 2 bags will last our 4 flight cages about 2 months with us changing it every 2 weeks. It doesn't smell like corn cob or some other products and it doesn't fly around when they fly low in the cages. We have been using it for a year now and have had no issues, I think Debbie has been using for several years now, maybe 10, and has had no issues. Also, you can use it like kitty litter and use a scoop to get out all the big debris until you are ready to change the whole litter tray.
