whats the best method for disinfecting the small bamboo finch nests? it is safe to give them a mild bleach solution and a good drying peroid as with other equipment?

That's what I've done previously - bleach / water treatment and let dry. Mind you they don't last forever.

I have cleaned several that way with out problems, rinse well ,and just put in sun till you can't smell the bleach

lovely. this was my technique for the coconut and wooden nests but i wasnt to sure about the bamboo nests... glad to hear i wont have to throw away all those nests JUST yet.

starting to feel like the odd one out (have this feeling a lot

)
any nests I place in the aviary are only for that breeding season. at season's end all nests are thrown in the bin
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

I re-use them after bleach washing and using a little brush on them.

Its pretty interesting that you guys use such a variety of nests. I always figured that wooden nest boxes were the way to go, eash access to check on everyone, big and spacious so no one is crowded...easy to clean because the sides of the walll were smooth with no crevices etc. Now I am starting to wonder...
