canaries and javas?

As my Opa was from Bandung in central Java, I feel that I should try my hand at Java Sparrows.
I have a double outdoor aviary which consists of two flights separated by a double door.
Each flight is three feet wide, 7 foot tall and about 6 feet long.
Each currently houses 5 canaries.
Would a pair of Javas be ok cohabiting with some canaries in one of the flights, or should I keep the canaries together in one and the Javas in the other?

I have an outdoor mixed aviary with finches and canaries. When I introduced a pair of javas into the aviary last year, they acted extremely aggressive with the smaller finches, as well as the gentle canaries. They chased the other birds away from the food, water, and their favorite perches. It got so bad that I was afraid they might injure the other birds. After 2 days, I removed the javas from the aviary and placed them in their own flight cage.

Based on my experience, I would recommend against mixing javas with canaries. Although the canaries are larger, they tend to be less aggressive than javas. Also, javas have such sharp beaks that they could do extensive damage when they go after a more gentle bird.

It could be that my javas were unusually aggressive, and other people may have more positive experience in mixing javas with canaries.

Yeah, my Java sparrow pair is very mild mannered, even when breeding. They mix without problem with my smaller finches and currently live with my three canaries now with zero conflict.

I would keep them separate especially if you plan to breed them, they can get pushy, aggressive and quarrelsome.

javas need to be housed per pair in a 30x 18 cage or flighted in an aviary, they do well in an aviary of their own kind, they are active and need exercise. They tend to have large clutches, some of mine yield anywhere from 6 to 10 at a time.

I have only issue with Java trying to take over Zebra's nest in the first week, as soon as i put more nesting boxes, they moved there and immediately laid eggs. I got 4 extra javas now with zero conflict with other species
