Re: My Aviary
Thanks everyone!
It was a little more expensive than I planned but it turned out nice. Im sure it will look better once the plants grow out a little more.
One thing I want to mention for anyone planning on using polycarbonate roofing panels. They heat up a lot! It almost feels like the clear panels amplify the heat! I'm thinking of replacing them. I think they would be good for a greenhouse.

Re: My Aviary
Wonderful aviary. If I see correctly its attached to your home?
Here we cannot do that legally. Love the idea of being able to watch my birds from inside my home.
Just a quick note on the species selection. IF you keep the parrot finches: red throated, blue faced and forbes together you stand 100% chance of them crossing and creating hybrids. Even if you see a bonded pair go down on eggs doesn't mean the hen wasn't serviced by another male. Unfortunately the same goes for the Blue caps and red checked cb.
These birds genes are precious in aviculture as they are in limited supply. It would be a shame to create hybrids (which are fertile as they are so closely related).
The best advice I got from an old timer breeder was to choose which of the species very closely related I liked the most, and to stick to them. Unless you can separate them for breeding its not worth the risk keeping them all together. If you don't plan to breed them then mix away.
Lovely selection of birds you have in your collection. They sure do have a wonderful home it would seem.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
I love your set up.
A lot of love and hard work has gone into this project.
Like other members have mentioned, I have to admit that I am just a little
with jealousy. Sadly with our weather here, I can't have something like that.....but I enjoy seeing other people's set ups .

Re: My Aviary
The aviary does use my house as one of the walls. It is not attached to the wall but freestanding next to it. Cant attach anything to a house without permits. Probably even need a permit for it being next to it but oh well.

I do have the RCCB and BCCB separated. The RCCB in small breeder cage cause I like the BCCB better. Actually got another pair of BCCB.
Same for the parrot finch. Red throated is my preference.
