Does a big quad cage exist?

Post by fantail » Thu Jan 29, 2009 5:53 pm

So have different species that don't coexist in the same cage well. To combat the tower of 4 mismatched flight cages I have I'd love to get a real stacked cage setup. However, most of the breeder cages I see are pretty small, I'd rather not downgrade my birds for my personal taste.

After looking all over I've found two options, both are close but not quite and both are by HQ.

http://www.mybirdcage.com/double_flight_cage.html is the size I am looking for, but double, not quad.

http://www.mybirdcage.com/quadruple_stack_cage.html that one is the quad, but each cage is only 20" wide.

Long story short: I'm looking for a quad cage where each cage is at least 30" wide.

Any suggestions?

I went on Craigslist and found a fellow who makes steel aquarium stands and wooden dog houses. I emailed him to see if he would make a birdcage. He's putting a quote together for me right now. Why don't you check it out on your local Craig's list? Or place an ad on Kijiji?

Try Wingz Avian....http://www.kwcages.com/wingzcatalog/s00001.html -

They sell equipment to DIY, and/or look like they would shoot you a quote for a custom type cage..

The quad cage you have linked to works much better as just two flight cages. I have another version of this unit, it is a triple-stack, with one more level on top of the other two. This is an HQ cage, but I don't believe they make it anymore. As you said, if you put the divider in, you end up with cages that are 20x20x20. I use it without dividers, so it gives me 3 cages that are 40x20x20.

Abba Seed imports a lot of cages from Europe. They are not cheap, but they have some very interesting combinations. You could see if they have anything that interests you. They are at www.abbaseed.com/. You may be better off trying to build something, or ordering custom.

Thanks guys! That was all amazingly helpful. I worked in a bicycle shop for years and you realize all shops are ordering from the same few manufacturers. The same accessories everywhere you go. I'm seeing the pet industry is the same way. Most sites have the same catalog they are ordering from.

It's great to see these links to places that arn't doing the usual!

The range of custom either looks shoddy or out of my pricerange. I think what I am going to do is get two double stack flight cages and just put them side by side. You lose the ability to remove the barrier between, but as I said, my birds don't play nice anyway. Probably pushes it from about $350 to closer to the $500 range, but that's not too terrible.

I'm going to keep drooling over the cool stuff of wingz avian, abba seeds, and looking at all the parrots on kijiji! I'll let you all know when I pull the trigger what I go with.

Thanks so much!

Those Abba white steel cages are the best I've seen on a US site...very similar to those available in the UK.
