I've always made a point of feeding my birds in the enclosed section of my set up...It encourages the birds to roost in the warmer section as winter approaches (Not just yet thankfully)
However, now I have a mixed collection there have been days when I hardly see a single bird.So this morning I fitted a feeding hatch to the outside so I don't have to enter and disturb the birds.Works a treat...I get to see some of my flock now without going indoors.
By the way...the Rosa Bourke feeding there...his missus is on 4 eggs in the nestbox in the top picture.I had built her a large box when I saw the cock feeding her,but she beat me to it and set up house in that little box.
The orange canary on the right was found by a little girl down the road. Her Mum told her to "Take it to the bird man"....so I finished up taking him in.
