I'm thinking it'll be nice to have a seed hopper instead of bowls just because I won't have to be cleaning, adding more seed, 2-3 times a day. I don't like to fill the bowls up because of the poop issue. So I only put a couple spoons in each bowl. That means I'm always cleaning and adding seed. This will make my life a little easier if they use it. (NOT AS A BATHROOM  )

75% of the cages have the feeders in now...the ones I bought today are drying so they will go in tomorrow. The zebras took to them right away. I positioned them away from their drinking cups aka bathtub  plus everyone has drinkers and one cup of an dried egg and herb salad mix and an egg cup of my mineral mixture...shaved cuttlebone and mineral block with powdered oystershell. They also hae a whole cuttlebone.

I'm with you Trish, cut down the work and cut done on them using bowls as a potty. The one thing I noticed with the mounted feeder is that the bird can not turn around and poop in the little seed cup under the dispenser.

I put one in each of my cages today and 'we all' LOVE THEM! The birds are eating out of them and there aren't any hulls or POOP left behind! =D> =D> I used zip ties to secure them. EZ to fill, EZ to take out and replace. Thanks for the tip Cindy! =D> =D>

Glad to help Trish.....by the way I bought WalMart out. I bought their shelved supply of the mountable ones out plus some of the tiiny hut type feeders for the cages with more then two birds in it...my flights and baby cages.

No...actually I went mid morning on a weekday, the department was dead...except things are always on higher shelves than I can reach....finding a sales clerk is a bigger challenge than fighting off the crowds.

I do need a few more though!!!!

They are working out fine, the birds that have them in their cages are using them, there is definately less mess and waste. The seed the hull I find don't end up back in the tray they have to lean forward and down to get what they want, they usually sit back a little to eat so it goes to the floor of the cage.

That's what I thought was the best! I was watching them eat and they turn their heads to the side to hull the seeds. When they turn tail towards the seed hopper their tail feathers bump against the feeder and who can poop that way? Wow, both problems solved! The other thing I find absolutely fantastic is I only have to put seed in it once or twice a week instead of twice a day!!! yay =D> I left one feeder on the shelf at Wally World.... maybe I should go back and get it just in case. I do have an empty breeding cage I might end up using some day.... Who knows if they'll ever get any more? I can't believe I'm so excited over a 3.00+ feeder! life is funny isn't it?

I am flying to California next week so my brother is going to stay here and take care of the birds. Once I showed him everything he needs to do, he was a little in shock at how much there was to do. That said, these feeders will help out a ton, especially while I am away.

That is the main reason I use these/feeders. When I go out of town with the amount of cages I have it is less work on my husband. He has enough to do with the dogs, giving the birds water and eggfood to those with babies. I also use 7 oz water tubes and cups.

I put feeders in the cages and set up cups with herb salad and dried eggfood and a mineral mix cup in one section on the opposite side of the cage from the water...sort of like a little feeding station in each cage.

My owls are the only ones without feeders at the moment.
