So funny, I added some to my aviary last week and my birds won't go near the perches. I've had to lure them in with millet sprays just to sit on it! I hope they will with time figure it out.

Thank you for this very important info. It's a relief! I am new at keeping birds. And every time my bird rests like that, I ask him "Are you ok?! What's wrong!?" he's probably sick of me.

Hey Judy, I plan on carrying these at my store... I will contact you with price and could ship them to you once I get them in stock. I may be able to ship them to Canada also for you Liz. I will let you know the prices when I get them.

Please do, Candace! I imagine they would ship flat and we would put them together (construct them) once we receive them. If you have quantity discounts... even sweeter!

Would you know the sizes of these so we can start planning? I'm wondering if I can put two of about 27" each, in my double flights (so I can still put the divider in when I need to catch a bird) and how many birds that size would accommodate? Is it 3" per section?

I imagine any breed of bird would like some privacy once in awhile.. even the Societies. All of my birds have been in there at one time or other... except for the Bourkes and Splendids. And I think that is only because it's too small. Perhaps I'll find a bigger one for them.

I initially made one from milk cartons that I had washed and cut down. It was a bit shakey and wobbly. After fussing with it for about a week, I finally discarded it. I think I'll give it another try with half-gallon size cartons for the Splendids and Bourkes. I'll post a picture if/when it's complete.

Great news for those looking for the Abba product "stress perch" referred to in some of the posts above. I just called their number (on their web site www.abbaseed.com) and they have plenty of these in stock, and sell them directly to folks. You may need assistance figuring out how many to order, because you assemble these things - it takes 2 of the components to build one stall, and you order however many you want depending on how many "stalls" you want in a run. The gentleman I was referred for assistance with this particular product was very nice and helpful. The product is called "I 002" (modular sleeping compartment with perch for canaries and other small birds). I am excited to know about these because I have been looking for them for a long time as well, and could not find them through any other source. I like the fact that these are plastic and can be disinfected more easily than wood, and are probably quite a bit lighter in weight as well.

I have seen the plastic ones before and think they are great for cages especially. But for my aviary I would prefer the wooden ones like Judy's. My hubby is busy working on them now.... can't wait~!!!!!

My husband is excellent with wood working too. He built my flight cages so I'm sure he could build these. What are the dimensions? Are they mostly for really huge mixed flight aviaries or would they be nice for smaller indoor flights? I think it's so cute with each bird in their own little apartment. :D

I made a similar setup in my smaller community cage.
I use plastic milk jugs for the separators, this pix shows how I installed the separator on the top perch. It is clamped to the top of the cage using paper clamps.
When I had the stalls setup, I think I had the spacing at about 3-1/2 inches. 5 stalls in 18 inches. This is a bit tight, but I wanted to squeeze in another stall.
I took down the stalls leaving only 1 divider up. When they sleep, each wanted their own private stall. I had more birds than stalls, and they would fight over the stalls.
