Re: Im just disgusted with my aviary build
I've seen a lot of people go to a hardware store and buy a screen door and just use that for a door rather than build their own. That might be an easier option for you rather than building your own.
Owls, Goulds, European Goldfinch, Red Belly Siskins and Zebs... For now...

Dayna, I can empathize! My husband is super handy but also super busy and travels a lot -- so when I decided I wanted an aviary I knew I needed to try to put it up myself --
I bought 1/2" covered wire closet shelving in 6' high pieces and BOLTED the suckers together with carriage bolts until I had an 8' long 4' wide and 6' high aviary. Okay, so no top nor floor but the sides were done...
My husband configured the doors so they hinged and made the top and the floor out of plywood. I bolted flourescent lights to the plywood inside the aviary so we had lighting and WALLAH I had an aviary.
I didn't even try to work with the wood myself -- since I can't hit a nail straight.
But after I watched my husband do it I decided I COULD have done it if I had persevered.
Anyway, determination will get you a long way so don't give up -- you'll be happy your birds have something nice to live in when you're done.

Re: Im just disgusted with my aviary build
Ive seen the ones made from screen doors.Super easy, just screw them all together and replace the screen with wire mesh..But alas, each screen is around 35 bucks and i would need a truck to haul them all, oh and money, thats something Im lacking right now.
So Ive got the top, sides and bottom done with only having to buy the mesh and some 1x2's, but I havent screened in the front or made doors for changing the food and water yet.
Im hesitant to take pics, its pretty awful, made with bits and pieces and all of them a different color. So far its brown, white and sky blue..LOL
