Re: I ordered it!
Another idea I've heard people doing with larger door ways is to spread something like an inner tube across it very tightly. A star shape is cut into the center to allow you to easily reach in the cage and pull things out. The rubber forms to your arm and prevents escapes and still allows the door to close. I learned this trick from a breeder of many years, but have not personally used it myself as I haven't the foggiest idea where to purchase the rubber/inner tube material from.

Re: I ordered it!
Corkysgirl, with the sheet of plastic, it is slightly larger than the opening, so it completely blocks their way if they fly into it. I punch holes on the top edge and use quick links to hold it onto the cage bars, so it just hangs there. I can easily put my hand in under and to the sides of it. It is flexible so it bends, yet stiff enough to hold its shape and go back to hanging straight down once I remove my arm.

KarenB Oh I get the picture now. Thanks for explaining that to me. I should try both methods and see which work best.
