I actually have that exact perch in my shower for my macaw, Zoe, and I happily shower with her. :D I do my thing, and then I spritz her with a water bottle sprayer dedicated just for that. Being social animals, parrots appreciate showering with a friend. I doubt very seriously that she cares whether I am unclothed or not.

I have always showered with my big parrots unless they preferred a different method of getting wet. I had a cockatoo that would prefer to be on the bottom of the tub while you held the shower head over her, whether I was in with her or not. Cockatoos are difficult to get wet, and this was the easiest way for it to penetrate into her feathers. Before that I had to run the blow dryer simultaneously for her to get into the mood.

That's adorable Karen. :) Cheyenne, the Catalina Macaw at Petland when I worked there wanted to bathe every time she heard the vacuum cleaner fire up in the morning. She could make a huge mess with just her bowl of water. I can't imagine how wet everything must be with Zoe. :)

It actually is not messy. All the water stays inside the shower because I spray her with the water bottle sprayer. She just holds her wings out for me and lets it fall on her.

KarenB -- Okay, I take it back.
I *WOULD* shower with my parrots if they were as cute as Zoe!
That photo is so darn cute!!!

Now how does that work with the shampoo and stuff? Does she get soap on her? (And if so, does it bug her?)

KarenB -- What is Zoe?
Her feathers look a deep purple(?), which makes her unlike any I've ever had!
I thought maybe blue and gold, with the blue looking purple, but usually the gold comes up a bit higher onto the neck.

Zoe is a blue throated macaw. That perch is above my head and toward the back of the shower, so me shampooing or soaping up is a non issue for her. She sometimes gets impatient for me to finish, though, and will dance around on the perch until I start squirting her down, lol.

I've just discovered my own Gracie absolutely loves showering. We have a second curtain rod hung about 14 inches behind the actual one inside the shower which we dry towels on, and this is where he's come to love sitting while I shower. Before I get out the soap and turn up the heat I set it to pleasantly warm and he comes down to my shoulder and has a fantastic time splashing in the 'rain' for a good five minutes or so, then a few more minutes splashing and playing in the water pooling down in the tub itself before he's ready to go back up on the rod above my head to prep and preen his shiny, squeaky-clean feathers while I wash myself. When there's no shower going on, he's also not opposed to a bath in a running sink! He absolutely refuses to bathe in a stagnant bowl, that's for peasants, clearly.

Gracie after 'our' shower this morning haha.

Haha Dylan how cute. My conure used to absolutely drench herself in the shower or sink. And it was like 10-15 minutes of stopping over letting her bathe while she sat on my hand in the sink as she refused to sit in the sink by herself...lol She never bathed in her water bowls either.
