It looks great, Donna. Give them time. Mine took quite a few days, also, but now there's always somebody perched in there. Once they get used to it, they'll love it. =D>

Judy in your photos the perch is all the way up against the ceiling. Is that important? I just imagine I wouldn't be able to relax if others are handing on top of my stall.

OMG! I have tried to reply to this post like 6 times!!! I ended up somewhere else...ahh! So, I'm here now:) I have the plastic abba sleep centers and they are $1.75 Each stall. I don't have them online yet....will try to make it a priority to day. I attached a picture of mine which is in a 6x6 walk in so...nice and big one:)
Thanks for the referral Judith:)))

And YES, it is suppose to be at the very top of the cage. The idea is birds act aggressively by attacking from an upper position. By placing it at the top of the cage, no one can get the upper hand so to speak. This way it is truly a place of rest, no one should be able to reach inside from above only the side:) Birds always attack from above or so I was told. It takes about 2 months for gouldians to assimilate to any changes and this is no exception, but just wait and they will use it!!!

I'm not sure if they'll use it or not, if it's not abutt to the top of the cage. I think they need that to make them feel secure. They don't want anyone above them.

Got my new Stress Perch from Terri's and it was pretty easy to install. I had to get a little creative to get the one side up since my arms are so short but I got it. It looks great in the flight the Owl and OC are very interested and get pretty close....

I think the reason they aren't rushing to use yours, Donna, is that they have so much space in your huge aviary that having privacy is not as much of an issue for your birds. But I'll bet they will try it out after a while. I think I might even try to make some of those. Lowe's and Home Depot are really good about cutting out things for me. I just have to draw it out on a piece of paper so they don't have to try to read my mind, and they cut what I need. Glue the pieces together (plus some finishing nails). I guess the hardest part would be getting all the little holes drilled in exactly the right place for the dowel to go thru. Does this sound about right?

Sally
When they cut all the separators, label them 1,2,3,4,..., all on the same side of the board.
Then stack up 1,2,3 one above the other, all lined up. This is important for consitency.
Then mark and drill the hole STRAIGHT DOWN. This is the hardest part, to go straight down.
Repeat stack using 1,4,5.
#1 is the template, to drill thru.

If you have trouble going straight down, rather than 3 board, just drill 2 boards.
