No way, Jennie!!! No more zebras in the Fiorito house!!! But I would have no problem helping you and Nerien spiff up your bird spaces. Especially if I will be bringing Ruth some BC Zebbies  . Lucy and Chic will make beautiful babies, Jennie. You should let them raise a clutch, especially since Lucy is a proven mommy  . I took the nests away from my Cut Throats and Shaft Tails today. The cut throats had 4 eggs (1 fertile) and the Shafties had none. I felt really bad getting rid of a fertile egg (just started developing blood vessels), but I can't handle any more babies right now. Besides, my unreliable fosters will be busy for the nest 5 or 6 weeks. The only pair that is allowed to start a new clutch, is my RCCB pair. But the chances of that happening are slim to none :)

Jennie, just what IS wrong with Lina? You make her sound like Cruella de Ville or Lizzie Borden!

Ginene, the only way to spiff up my bird space would be to spiff up my house, and I'm afraid the only way to do that would be to start with a small thermonuclear device....I'm willing, but I think the kids and neighbors would have a problem with that....

Wow, I love your brid room...... and so clean. Going to look for those seed catchers- my office floor is a mess with only one cage!Looking at our unused guestroom. (My husband isn't particularly happy with you LOL)

I'm inspired....to my husband's dismay.

OK, RanchNanny, saw you have 3 schnauzers in your home. We have been considering adding an adult schnauzer (favorite breed) to our household for companionship/security. Do they do OK with the birds?

O.K. that does it I need a bird room!!!! I am planning on adding on a sun room next year without a doubt.

Lol! Good one Jennie  . My friends think I have completely lost my mind, when they hear I have 29 birds and now 8 babies (I think 8...maybe 9...possibly 10  ). Then when they hear I got rid of my guest room and made it into a bird room, they think I'm ready for the rubber room #-o . Whatever...no matter how much hubby pretends to be indifferent in front of others, I know he isn't. This morning (between 7am-8:30am) it was..."How are the babies? Did their crops empty? Did you feed them yet? Are the societies feeding them yet? Should I take Joe to school so you can feed the babies? I don't think you should wait till 8:30 to feed them. How did the feeding go?" Lol!!! I should secretly record these conversations and play them for others when he tries to put on his aloof appearance. He rescues cicadas for God's sake...

Hey, now how is a bird room any different than a sewing room, a craft room, a media room, a workshop, an exercise room, a playroom, a man cave.....Just tell them that. Birds are your hobby, and this is your hobby's room. So there!

My "bird room" is my living room, because we have no other room, this is a six-room little ranch house. In a 12x21 foot living room I have 11 linear feet of cages, stacked double high, nearly to the ceiling (5 feet of budgies, 5 feet of parrotlets, 3 feet of degus, then on top 3 feet of societies, 5 feet of zebras, 2-1/2 feet of spices), plus four feet of guinea pig over the large(42") dog crate down the end of the room. The hedgehog lives in a bedroom, as she doesn't like the commotion of the rest of the house. And two cats roaming pretty much wherever they please. I used to be the crazy creature lady, now I'm a crazy bird lady based on numbers and space occupied. And if I have to be crazy, at least I'm a crazy bird lady, not JUST crazy.

I figure that anyone who feels the need to judge ME harshly or put lil' ol' ME down, must have a very unhappy or stressed life, and I feel sort of sad for them that they need to put me down to try and raise themselves up. I live in a very wealthy area, big fancy houses, expensive cars, clothes, vacations, high powered jobs, careers, lives--and here's little ol' me in my little dumpy house with my dumpy clothes, my dumpy little life, all my/our disabilities and limitations...yet I have good kids, nice kids, who go to each other's concerts and recitals just to support each other, we all eat dinner together every night, get goofy together, my 15 year old son will still not only let his little 11 year old sister hug him goodbye every morning, but hugs her back (most of the time)....and I wouldn't trade my lovely dumpy little life for all the multi-million dollar, 12,000 square foot mansions in town (which is quite a few.) Not that I wouldn't mind a bigger house, or improvements on a lot of things, but I'd rather be happy in my little dump. I just wish it had one more room for a bird room. Well, a bird and plant room. Well, a bird and plant and....

Lol!!! I hear ya, Ruth. We bought a 4 bedroom house, planning on filling it with children. But it turned out that God had different plans for us. So this house (that is too big and too expensive for us) provided us with the loan we needed for Lil Joe's adoption, a big living room to use as a Sensory Gym and a spare bedroom to use an ABA/OT/Speech Therapy classroom. It has also provided a beautiful basement apartment for my mom, which she moved into this past September. So even though we are a small family of 3, created through adoption, affected by Autism and are big house/therapy poor...I wouldn't change a thing... .

We are all so blessed! These little birds make it even more blessed.

I have a four bedroom house with no children at home! It is too big for me to justify staying here, so I am putting it on the market next year. In the meantime, I think I am going to turn the dining room into a bird room, however I really like my full sun formal living room for the birds. So, I was thinking of making the dining room into the formal and the formal into the bird room. Problem is time and money I have little of either..two kids in college, yep enough said... Hahahaha My birds are stripping my bank account LOL

I seriously just had a hot flash typing that! oh boy oh boy

PS Nerien, I have the dumpy house in my neighborhood too! wooo hooo! power to the crazy bird ladies :)
