Exact same thing happened with our Gray, Same hooked part on the door of the cage. We use the cage only for travel (we take her camping). Pete was alone when it happened, and had to support the bird, find a tool to help get her loose. She is fine also.

I cut my Pearler beads in half with a pill cutter. Makes a nice thin split band.

Glad he was able to unhook her. They are lie little babies, you need to "childproof" their surroundings! Than goodness for both our birds someone was near at the time!

I do the same thing finchandlovebird...I wrote a topic on it, you can take perlers and slice them to make smaller rings, snip them to make it split. You can band the bird in two colors stacked on top of each other.

Unfortunately perler beads will not work on English budgies, Scarlet Chested Parakeets, Bourkes or most larger hookbills....fine for finches.
