Can I give my M/M BCCB's a nest?

That is very cool. An amazing piece of work. No wonder you'd feel bad taking it away from them.

Ginene I think Nanajennie has a point and it may be best to wait a while. There is nothing wrong with giving them ample time to settle and become more accustomed to things and really get comfortable before letting them breed. If you are as worrisome as me having a clutch during the holidays would make you even more stressed. If it were me I would cancel Christmas to hand feed if it came down to it! Lol, well maybe but to that extreme. You don't have to let them have babies just because they try the first time. If I let my birds have babies whenever they wanted I'd probably have 400 birds by now.. And if I were to count all the infertile eggs they laid as babies they wanted to have as well it would be more like 4000. Don't rush to make a decision! After all they are your babies and there are always other chances. They may even have an easier time and be more successful breeding in the spring. But they certainly aren't going to have a serious discussion about it with you, lol. If you feel more comfortable waiting until after the holidays to dedicate your time then wait.. it's Nutt like the birds are going to contemplate that, lol. No matter what you do you always have our love and support!

UPDATE...
I removed the owls nest from their cage
. It had 3 eggs in it, none of which started to grow. Honestly...none of us are ready for breeding right now. And when we are, I will set them up in a proper breeding cage.

awww....no owlies for Christmas.
That's okay, Christmas babies get shorted on attention and presents.
Unless you're my daughter, who gets a full Christmas and then a full Birthday a week later on New Year's Eve, and probably more than she should for each to make sure she isn't being cheated, lucky kid!
Better to let them have a private honeymoon suite when they and you are ready. Who want the neighbors poking in on your nest when you're incubating?
Took a walk with the dog into the woods today. Dragged home two big birch branches. One an entire branch system with all the little twiglets and leaves still on it. Don't even know who I'm going to use it for, I need a bigger cage to do it justice, as I'm not giving it to the hookbills, who will just chew it up. Spotted a nice beech limb for them, but couldn't handle bringing it back. Another trip, and maybe bring one of my guys along. Now hubby has to finish the bigger homemade cage so I can use my branch, and then I'll have room for lots of birdies!!! Got a crested society who sings his heart out day and night. Really, cage covered, room dark, Moptop singing and dancin' like crazy. Want some potential crested societies?
