wildbill are the fronts staying open / meshed to the outside or will they be closed up? I cannot recall from previous post.

That set up with a shelter and an outside area is my ideal setup. One day when I have space and cash perhaps I would build something like that.

Whole setup looks very envious... though it must be a fair bit of work to maintain and keep up!

monotwine

at the moment in Oz it is pretty hot and not much i can do to the aviary. looking at the aviary photo in the centre section ( blue tarp area) i have several pairs of diamond fire-tail finches with young.
To risk hunting young out of the nest would be fatal so once temp drops will complete
during hot weather i plan to drop shade cloth over the front flight sections and in winter roll up pvc cafe blinds.

@Martie

thanks and appreciated

Wildbill How are your birds going in the heat?

All I could do was put the sprinkler on the roof of the aviary and cover it in shade cloth, I also put up a shade sail and changed water every hour, poor little fluffs were panting so hard on the 44 days.

I had four fledge first day of the heat then two on the hottest day, but they survived thank god.

just spent most of the day fitting these cafe style blinds to the front of the aviary. it's starting to get a bit cold on the overnight temps and several pairs of gouldians have young in the nests so thought it would be a good idea.
so its out early tomorrow to mow the grass and the job is complete :lol:

Great job! You should have wonderful breeding results with all that space.
