My Red Faced Parot finches are already starting to make a nest.
I am not ready to be a Grandpapa yet.

Here is a video of my aviary construction from start to finish that I uploaded onto YouTube.
I hope the link works.

Please visit the the pictures of my bird room: https://plus.google.com/u/0/

I have constructed a bird room of 9’x10’. In the one side of this room I hanged breeding cages and in the other side an aviary (dimensioning 4’ wide, 10’ long, and 8’ height) has been constructed. I have 18 breeding cages; 6 of them are 3’ long and 12 of them are 2’-6” long. Breeding cages are made of galvanized wire mesh all side and painted with eco-friendly paint. I use commercially available drinkers and self-made seed feeders (please refer following link http://www.finchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=25206). The basic structure, on which the cages are hanged, is made of steel angles. I have used PVC sheets for the sheds. Fake plants have been used in the gap between two cages to provide privacy.
The aviary is also made of all side wire mesh except the top. The bottom wire mesh has been fabricated on a steel structure so that I can walk around into it freely for cleaning and catching the birds. I have maintained 1’ gap in between the cemented floor and the aviary bottom. This makes the cleaning process easier. The aviary is also decorated with fake plants and natural perches.
I use a full-spectrum fluorescent daylight. I also use two LED red color bulbs during the breeding season. The bird room also gets direct sunlight. I have a room heater with humidifier for the winter season. The bird room walls are of brick up to 3’ height and thereafter wire mesh. However, sliding glasses are also there along with the wire mesh; so that the glasses can be opened or closed as required. These glasses protect my feathered friends from cold wind in the winter.
As you can see in the photos, this type of setup is ideal for low maintenance. I prefer wire mesh at the bottom and hanging cage because the cage floor remains clean, frequent cleaning is not essential, no chance of picking soiled food. Further, the cleaning process is less stressful to the birds.

Not quite sure how to send multiple pics so i hope they come through, if not could you let me know thanks. Hope you get this ok.
I built this aviary using a patio door turned sideways. I built the platform first using 2x2 and 2x4. Then i used 2x12 for the base as to keep the food and water in side the aviary instesd of on the floor. I framed around the window first, then i built the back wall 2x2 and 3/8 plywood. picked up a bamboo blind and glued it to the plywood. then i cut 2x2s into 24 inch lengths for the depth of the cage. these are actually used for the roof. I took 5 of the 2x2s and attached 1x3 pine to make the ceiling / roof. leaving a 2.5 space at each side as to attach the front and back together Wish i would have taken pics as i went. I used a 2x12 for the bottom left / right sides. Backing up a bit i icut 1x1 trips for the top inside edge of base as to sit plywood down for the floor. ASSEMBLY: With help, Sat the back wall on the stand and attached the bottom left/right 2x12 sides. Then stood the front up and attached the bottom, first to the 2x12 sides. Next layed the roof on and attached it to front and back walls. Also installed 3 pod light to ceiling. FRAME COMPLETE. Next DOORS Measured the opening 2x2 frames inlayed 1x1 strips to make screen flush to edge as to keep poop on floor and not door. Drilled holes through the sides of door as to hide latch used allen keys wrenches for door latches. Cut plywood as to lay inside so i can remove /replace if needed. Layed a heavy grade poly floor mat on floor to keep moisture off of wood. Covered with paper added twisty willow branch sanded perches Coconut shell nest and necessities. DIMENSIONS are 7'x7' x 24". on the stand it sits 6.5 feet.
