Now, I wonder if there is a way to finish this aviary that will allow for shelter from heat, wind, storms, hail, and cold, yet allow them the sunshine and outdoor experience? Is there such a thing?
Deborah, I notice that it looks like plastic mesh that you are using on your outdoor aviary. I think the plastic mesh is fine for an indoor aviary, but for outside, I would worry about predators getting in. Racoons can tear apart plastic mesh, rats can chew holes in it. Also, many plastics become brittle from prolonged exposure to sunlight, so then even a snake could push against it and break an opening. For an outside aviary, I think metal mesh would be much safer.

First snow here...not bad as yet,but temperatures have plunged.I'm glad I clad the flight this year to keep the worst out, much better than the plastic sheet I used last year.

How are your birds doing with the cold? I hear Europe is pretty much frozen over. Is it as bad in the UK?
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Minus 5 last night...Gouldians often roost in the coldest section...silly devils...but they appear fine. Early morning sun will find the Hecks sunbathing although there's little warmth in the winter sun.

Very nice looking and large aviary.
It looks like your aviary is around a tree that goes through the top?? I am building my outdoor aviary around a pear tree and am trying to make it secure to avoid escapes and keep out predators. What have you done to address those issues.
