Has anyone taken a large ferret cage and added some mesh around it or something to make the bars small enough. The ferret cages are so much less expensive and so much bigger

midwest, the company that makes ferret cages also makes bird cages of the same style and size, they're not much more expensive than the ferret cages (couple hundred bucks) their smallest mesh size is 1/2"

I would like that Midwest cage a lot better if it was 48l x 36h, instead of 36l x 48h. It is hard to find cages that are really built for finches, with more length than heighth. For the money, the double flight that StevePax has is about perfect, especially for something that is going to be in your living spaces.

Yeah, that's why I'm building mine!

I'm with Sally - the double flight that I got is a much better deal for the money - 64 inches wide, the birds love to fly back and forth, and it's so easy to clean.

Well Steve, I purchased the double flight today by credit card instead... how quickly did yours arrive?? I'm so excited to get all my birds in a bigger cage. I'm thinking about how I'm going to decorate it and all that fun stuff!

Hi Emily,
I also purchased the cage from Quality Discount Cages.
I placed my order on Sat night, got an e-mail confirming my order on Monday, and on Tuesday the cage was shipped.
However, they shipped mine via FedEx (from FL to NY) and it won't be here until next Wednesday, so over a week since it was shipped.

Yeah, they ship the cage ground freight, to save on cost, so depending on how far away you are from California, it will take a little longer. I'm not very far from there, so it only took a few days for me. Congrats on the new cages! It's a great cage.
