Do you clean the nest?

Post by yvonnew » Thu Sep 30, 2010 6:57 pm

I have a pair of lavender finches in a cage and I have put a bamboo nest in the cage. Once the sun goes down the birds go into the nest it is so cute to see the two little faces peaking out. I've noticed that inside the nest there is poop every where should I take the nest out and dump the nesting stuff and put it back with fresh nesting stuff or just leave it alone?
thanks for any and all help

I clean a nest box after the chicks have fledged.
I remove the entire nest and completely clean it out.
The nest does not get put back unless I want a pair to breed. IOW, community or holding cages do not have nests.
