My mom is having hip surgery on NoV 17th and she will want to be home and wants me to take care of her. How can I do that and still take care of my birds. Do you think I can bring my birds with me to her her house or just check on them every couple of days and make sure they have water food ect. I was planning on getting new birds at the fort worth bird mart here this Saturday. But with my mom needing my help I will have to find someway to balance taking care of her and my birds.
Should mention the birds will be in pairs and I was planning on societys, zebras and parakeets in different cages all male/female pairs.

I hope your Mom will be ok after surgery!
If you had birds already I'd say feeding them every other day would be ok. But since you don't have any yet, why don't you postpone the birds and wait for the next fair? I'm sure you will be happier not having to deal with new birds and concentrate on your Mom for now... The birds aren't going anywhere, they'll still be there in a few months. And then you'll be able to spend a lot of time with them and see that they are ok and getting adjusted to their new surroundings.
Just MHO.

If you can put off getting the birds until after you mom is fully independant - that would be much better than having to worry about both locations at the same time.
Best wishes for you mom!

It depends on how distracted you will become with the birds... birds (just a few) won't take much time if you just check on them and make sure they are getting all they need (food/drink, etc.).
My mother just had hip surgery and she went to a Rehab center for 6 weeks so it was pretty intensive follow-up. She went to the rehab instead of one of our homes (daughters) because her doctor wanted her to get extensive daily physical therapy from the specialists there.
You might think about it and make sure you could handle both if you want to get the birds... or be extra wise

(something I can't normally do when it comes to birds/animals) and wait.

It also depends on how much time you will have to spend taking care of your Mom. If you will be moving in with her during this time, it might be easier to have the three cages with you, if there is a good place to keep them out of the way. They won't take much time each day, and you could keep an eye on them. Also make sure that it would be OK with your Mom to bring the birds to her house.

actually mom said to go ahead and get the birds because now she doesn't know when the surgery is going to be and that if and when she does have it I could bring them over there to look after her and keep and eye on the birds she said.
