DIY cage

This is my almost-finished cage that I am making to house juveniles in case there are any problems in the outdoor aviary (either from parents agression or whatever..)
It's 70 cms. long, 60 cms. wide and 60 cms. tall (abt. 28x23x23")

There's another reason why I wish that cage fronts were readily available here.

Possibly in the US Pooh, but the cost of shipping them to Canada would outweigh the advantages.

Oh, BTW, Colorin -- Did you put a nice name placard on the cage? I love it and your artwork on the cage, too -- very nice.
You know, I don't know if a lot of people noticed it -- you might want to take a close-up of the artwork so we can see it better...

yes, I did add a "plaque" hahahaha
this is the name of the cage:
and detail of the engraving (I wish I had proper tools!)
and a closeup on the "shelter" at the back of the cage (I still have to add some more silk plants )

I love working with wood, and cages look so much warmer and cozy when made out of wood (even though it means spraying more often to kill any possible "bugs")
It took me 2/3 days to make it. I had some spare grills so I only had to design the cage and buy the front-grill, wood and hinges.
It was a whole weekend dedicated to the cage (husband had to do the cooking

I agree with you completely, Colorin! Wood does make things warmer -- it is much nicer than metal that way -- if you don't mind the extra work. It looks much cozier and more natural. Beautiful. I'm sure your husband didn't mind cooking too much.
