I've had my Gouldians in these two cages for the last few months and have decided to convert it into one large cage and have in the room we live in so wanted it to look as nice as possible, I did this by removing the rear cage panels and replacing it in one big sheet of 10mm Foamex bolted to the back part of the side panels, I used pvcU as skirts to the bottom of each side and a hinged pvcU panel at the bottom of the front to cover the bottom trays etc. it’s all metal and plastic so very easy to wash down and hopefully Mite free the whole cage measures 58” wide 20” deep (front to back) and 60” high (50” flight area) I thought this would make a great flight cage to bring them into condition, with the added benefit of watching them, so thought I’d post some pics for your comments, also how many gouldians would you recommend to put in there??

OH wow, that is really neat how you did that!
I think I'd feel comfortable with 6-8 gouldians in there. See how they do because bottom line it's going to depend on each birds personality how well they do together.

That looks marvelous!! What is the bar-spacing? It looks like two parrot cages put together. I really like the skirting though I would have the panels flip down and the trays slid out over top (instead of having to hold the panels up while sliding the trays out - just my preference).

Overall - I love the size!!

The bar spacings are 16mm. there is a large gap above the bottom trays and when the trays are out for cleaning etc the gat is about 40mm, thats why the panel lifts up and not down so its always closed

Nice cages!

I love what you have done with these cages! I checked the bar spacing, and it is equal to .62 in inches, so this would not work with the smaller waxbills. But you have had Gouldians in the individual cages for several months without problem, so this should work for that size finch--certainly gives them plenty of flight space.
