Old Cages - do I have to throw them out?

I have some (about 15) cages that are about 10 yrs old and the paint has rubbed off the floors in spots. They are in great condition and I hate to throw them out so can I repaint and keep using them?

I don't see why you couldn't paint and re-use them. People paint wire mesh for aviaries all the time. You could probably find out what kind of paint they use and use the same. Voila - brand new cage (almost). =D>

hi
when i had my old birdroom,i would wash all the cages down every spring ,and then repaint them...i used a white vinyl silk as the matt paint would wear away quicker and the vinyl you could wash down periodically through the year

There's some really good advise here, thank you all ! It's a very cold spring here so I'll wait till the temp warms up and I can do them outside. I'm excited that I'll have all new cages when I'm done!
