My Aviary

Post by Danyl » Tue Jun 07, 2011 11:00 am

Thought i would share some pictures of my outdoor aviary, the inside isn't complete yet but once complete ill post more pictures..

Had the aviary 2 weeks now and tried to make it as natural as possible with allowed plants and branches.

Its home to 4 zebra finches, 2 society finches, 2 canaries and 4 quail.. so far anyway

I know i have 2 pairs of zebras which hopefully will start breeding soon, not sure of the sex of the society. 1 canary is male and the other im not sure, however the male is offering the other canary pieces of material which makes me wonder if its female.

Posting the pictures as links so you can see the full size..

Very attractive and roomy! What kind of climate do you have year round? Where do you live?

That looks very nice! I love that giant branch too, looks very rainforest-like.

I agree...my only concern if it is England is the possibility of mice getting in there with part being bare earth...at least that's what it looks like where there is some planting.

Thanks All, still some more plants to add, want to get it as close as possible to the wild for them, plus it looks pretty that way lol!

As for the mice, well nothing will be able to dig underneath as when building it it come of the slabs on the right and i didn't want anything coming in or going out so i dug a trench around the aviary and put mess going down the aviary and into the ground and then put mud back over it!
