Fake plants yes or no-new member asking :)

Please forgive me if this has been asked before but im drowning in conflicting answers :)
Getting my 1st cage (ex casual young zebra finch breeder many moons ago so now class myself as a beginner :) ) & i wanted to add greenery.
I will be housing zebras, java & canary.
I wanted to add fake ivy & some colourful stuff but some sites say never add plastic beause its toxic. Some sites say never add silk because it will choke a bird.
So i've come here to ask finchy experts advice. I'm in the UK & will probably be buying online as i'm a little disabled.
Thanks in advance :D

Either is not a problem. :D I prefer the plastic because it is always easier to clean and they will not tear pieces, although my greensinger hen always has at least one purple flower  Don't ask me why, but she will not lay eggs until she has a purple thread in her nest. #-o

Don't worry about annoying questions - we all were beginners at one time. :D

I agree on the plastic plants. =D> The Dollar Store is a great place to get them "economically"!!

I like to add a bit of freshly cut stuff like conifer or cherry tree. The birds like chewing it and playing with it. It is also good for their feet and nails to grab something a bit bendy and different. After a couple of weeks just throw it and put some nice new stuff back in.

Hope you get loads of lovely finches.

Hopefully someone from your area will chime in soon [-o< , we do have quite a few members from the UK 8)

As for the green singer hen....she is the only one who does this  It is almost like a trade mark with her. 8) Once she feels the nest is up to her standards she will add one thread of purple and the next day lays an egg =D>
